40yr.old landscaper - low back pain

20-July-2010

This fit strong healthy man has had numerous sessions of chiropractic, several sessions of osteopathy and some physiotherapy. His statement on the first session was that he had become deeply sceptical about all the therapists because all seemed to fail and all claimed their work would be effective--which it was not. He gave up and only on meeting a new client who had had a similar experience of fmm treatment did he  recognise that perhaps fmm would offer something different.

Examination revealed that he has the simplest and most common problem--heavily contractured erector spinae and trapezius along with the almost inevitable L5 seizure. This was seized despite recent manipulation--it is our claim that much manipulation is ineffectual. The patient reports an audible crack on manipulation and it is assumed --by both parties that this is the signal for success. This is wrong--it is part of the smoke screeen--we have a less complimentary word for it beginning in B !!!

After the first session of muscle work the patient reported feeling better than for many years--two further sessions and he was signed off.

This is common for fmm practitioners.
