27yr old pregnant woman - 7 years of painfollowing accident16-January-2010
This young woman came for treatment over 3 years ago and I failed to help her--I treated her for a spinal condition. She subsequently had treatment from 6 other practitioners with the same outcome. In desperation she phoned me and asked if I would be willing to try again.
It is hard to believe that I made such a serious error of diagnostic judgement the first time--as soon as I listened to her story of having a serious fall and being crushed I was certain that the problem must be pelvic--dont know why I did not work this out before but mentally gave myself a serious kicking. The psoas was badly contractured and the sacroiliac joint seized up--after one session she was pain free--finished off the job next time to such huge delight from her and her partner expecting child number 2.
Even after 30 years in practice complacency can overcome one!!
Well the saga continues-it is now July 2010 months later than the above and my statement that I found the problem was WRONG. What has now over months consistently shown itself to work is her own stretching of the posterior group of muscles, the corset includint quadratus lumborum, so deeply entrenched in the lumbar myofascial matrix--this has been the problem all along. I have now signed her off officially. This has been the most complex saga.
