Foundation Year

The course is structured to provide maximum opportunities to have hands-on work on patients. The whole course is modular . The way of teaching- is flexible.

FOUNDATION YEAR

The foundation year will embrace the following methods and techniques:-

--mobilisation of myofascial contractures in the most commonly affected muscles and groups of muscles
--spinal joint mobilisation of the most commonly immobile structures
--basic assessment procedures
--taking the patients history
--observation of the common postural failings and their implications
--self-help for the patients with the common problems
--joint range assessment and basic muscle tests

Those students who already have clinical experience, have studied anatomy/physiology or who have attended FMM workshops in past years but who do not have experience of using yoga diagnostically will be encouraged to make up their modules from the advanced remedial yoga teachers training course. We will assist you in choosing relevant modules. The foundation year is structured in such a way as to ensure that all students beginning the consolidation year will have in place all the skills needed both from the fields of yoga , soft tissue mobilisation , joint mobilisation and clinical diagnostics and thus are prepared for the subsequent 2 years .

The FOUNDATION YEAR will involve 10 one-day workshops, home study of anatomical /physiological data that is relevant to the level, working on clinic patients and supplementing this with practise treatments.. By the end of this year you will have been enabled to learn accurate mobilisation of the major joints that malfunction frequently , in the spine and the most commonly contractured soft tissue which equips you for working on at least 80% of the people commonly presenting for the every day back pain .
