Attainment
The student, to be passed as competent after the first year, must show:
---during a treatment performed upon a supervisor that the quality of interpretation of the findings made during the manual examination is adequate for the resolution of the problems presented by the “average patient”
---an understanding of the relevance of the processes he or she decides are necessary to perform during the treatment, regarding mobilisation of certain specific joints
---that the mobilisations performed upon the supervisor are likely to lead to a resolution of the problem
---that the speed, depth and extent of manual treatment likely to lead to a successful outcome
---a basic understanding of patient handling and rehabilitation needs
--demonstrate an ability to transmit a broad understanding of the problem to the patient, in a manner that indicates integrity.
In the second year your tutors will test your ability to make accurate and specific mobilisations of certain joints and to demonstrate ways of treating certain muscles contractures. You will be asked to show that you understand the relevance of the diagnostic processes and how to apply them with meaning. During this year you are expected to be able to perform some of the common standard medical orthopaedic tests for muscles weakness and make a meaningful claim as to the relevance to the patient.
In the final year you will already be demonstrating at each workshop that you are confidently handling bodies on the couch and dealing competently with the patient. You will be providing details of those who you are working on and your tutors will know where lie your weaknesses and we will be helping you to remove these.
